Sexuality and sense of self
Questions of individual identity and sense of self, of who you are as a person - often around sexuality and/or gender identity - can arise for anyone at any stage of life. Going to university can be the first opportunity to explore, discover and try out an identity you knew had always been there, or find one that evolves over time. But it may arise through the multiple ‘coming outs’ you may find yourself going through in a workplace environment, social situations or family events. And that can be stressful and involve spending a lot of time in your thoughts, ruminating about ‘why?’ and worrying about the future, e.g. anxious about what others might think.
