Imperial College Union - ‘Under Pressure’ campaign - Wednesday 20 March 2019
As part of ICU’s regular ‘Under Pressure’ campaign, I’m offering this free taster session ‘Anxiety, Stress, Worry?……’ for Imperial College London students that introduces some simple, practical techniques for understanding and dealing with stressful situations, anxiety and worry. Common for many students studying at Imperial (as elsewhere) are problems that arise in dealing with issues like perfectionism, and academic deadlines, workload and exams (at all levels - UG, PGT & PGR), as well as many other personal issues.
I’ve pioneered personal resilience skills training across a wide range of Imperial College departments and Faculties - in FoNS, FoEng, and the Business School, and this taster session introduces just a few of the simple techniques that you can use to help build your own resilience to what life throws at you. It also helps to remove some of the mystery that sometimes surrounds what goes on in one-to-one therapy and what typical cognitive behavioural techniques might involve; using skills like mindfulness and deep relaxation.
It’s a highly interactive workshop session, and by the end of this short session you will have some simple tools at your disposal to help you re-frame your approach to learning (and life), so you can enjoy your studies, be less focused on the outcomes, more resilient in the future, and able to really relax!
And all in about 45 minutes!
Date and time: Wednesday 20 March at 2.30pm
Venue: Electrical and Electronic Engineering - EEE 509.
