Mindfulness workshop now booking

Practical Mindfulness for Everyday Living workshop now booking for 15 October 2018 6.00-8.30pm

An evening (2.5 hours) practical workshop that introduces you to simple mindfulness techniques and practices that you can integrate into daily living, and that doesn't require you to meditate every day! The workshop complements the self-hypnosis half-day workshop that was run earlier in September, but is also standalone.

For many people their only experience of mindfulness may have been meditation, and some will find it challenging to say the least to do regular (daily) meditation. While meditation can be a helpful technique for developing mindfulness it is by no means the only way to be mindful. In fact, the key is to build mindfulness into everyday living, in all we do, not just when we take some time out to practice it. This workshop is designed to help you develop mindfulness without frequent or daily meditation, it puts it in context and instead uses lots of really simple techniques and practices you can do on the bus, the tube, the train or walking through the park or on the way home or to work. Mindfulness can help you deal more effectively with whatever life throws at you, such as stress and anxiety, or low self-worth.

Learning outcomes:

  • An understanding of what it means to be mindful in practice, especially: being in the present moment, acceptance, defusion and awareness of self.

  • Able to use simple, practical mindfulness techniques

  • An appreciation of the wider (cognitive behavioural) context for mindfulness

This highly practical workshop covers:

  • What is mindfulness (and what it isn't)?

  • Mindful living - values, action and present moment experience

  • Mindfulness for anxiety, low mood, work stress etc.

  • Practical exercises (lots of them)

  • Building mindfulness into everyday living

All participants will receive a participant folder of materials/resources and access to online recordings. Refreshments will be provided.

Ticket is by Eventbrite ticket only in advance, £20.00 (Centre for Environmental Policy Alumni/Staff/Students, and partners); or £30.00 (non-CEP).
